He is pro-life and pro-gun (got the NRA endorsement last year), both issues that matter in some parts of the state where voters are economically populist but socially very conservative. He must have some appeal to moderates in order to within four points of winning in a district like VA-05. I'm not necessarily saying he is better than Kaine, but I don't think he's any worse, either.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2799451770086337664.post-69405639895203998992011-03-02T11:03:29.983-05:002011-03-02T11:03:29.983-05:00Russ, why would you think Kaine, a moderate, less ...Russ, why would you think Kaine, a moderate, less likely to pull moderate and Republican support than Perriello, an unabashed liberal? Right now Kaine is doing better with both groups, particularly moderates.Dustin Ingallshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00599131416393266722noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2799451770086337664.post-88960486232500796102011-03-01T23:03:52.674-05:002011-03-01T23:03:52.674-05:00Perriello and Boucher can draw moderates and repub...Perriello and Boucher can draw moderates and republicans who would rather not have Allen in the Senate. I do think this is a race that could cause republicans to vote for the Dem. I don't see that happening with Kaine or MacAullife. It's hard to see a lot of Obama-Allen voters, since it's quite the polar opposite. If Allen was more moderate, I could see the possibility.Shadrachhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02965038383419768045noreply@blogger.com
