It used to be dominated by the Republicans, particularly with the help of the Air Force base, but Denver has grown enough (and the Hispanic population swelled) to tilt the balance of power over. With the wide disparity between the positions of the parties, that makes for a very significant swing in policies. Colorado isn't a knee-jerk anti-government state anymore; they voted down TABOR in a referendum recently, for example.NRHhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12565160695480579309noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2799451770086337664.post-11071156265191664272011-02-10T12:18:36.850-05:002011-02-10T12:18:36.850-05:00What I don't get is that Colorado has a reputa...What I don't get is that Colorado has a reputation for being one of the most radical anti-tax states in America. Not to mention Colorado Springs is HQ for almost every Christian fundamentalist group in the country.AGnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2799451770086337664.post-92230392532271754172011-02-10T11:38:24.298-05:002011-02-10T11:38:24.298-05:00I agree with anonymous above - NY-26 could be a ve...I agree with anonymous above - NY-26 could be a very interesting place to poll.

Colorado could be very important if 2012 is close... hopefully it won't be (Obama huge over Palin!)Marvin Markshttp://www.musicbyday.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2799451770086337664.post-33732921424860717002011-02-09T20:36:23.206-05:002011-02-09T20:36:23.206-05:00Would it be possible for you to do a poll of NY-26...Would it be possible for you to do a poll of NY-26 sometime? It was a very close race in 2006 (with an absolutely horrendous Democratic candidate), and would have been at least fairly close in 2008 as well were it not for vote-splitting issues.

List of potential candidates: http://www.capitaltonight.com/2011/02/let-the-ny-26-jockeying-begin/ . I would suggest also doing the generic 'Democrat vs. Republican' at this point. And a pretty interesting option is Carl Paladino for the Republican side.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2799451770086337664.post-16402871865366821402011-02-09T16:16:43.904-05:002011-02-09T16:16:43.904-05:00You guys are right: CO is fast becoming like Washi...You guys are right: CO is fast becoming like Washington State, ie a large socially liberal white population in control of the state. The Hispanic population is speeding this process up.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
