Florida and Michigan are up in the rotation next week but we may think about subbing something else in for Michigan so perhaps we'll try this voting thing again.
Colorado is in the field right now and we're aiming for a weekend release, and we'll have North Carolina and Missouri toward the start of the week.
What was the final tally?
ReplyDeleteOh, and please do replace Michigan with something different. I would love to see a state polled that doesn't get a lot of attention, like West Virginia or Georgia.
ReplyDeleteIf you guys are looking for Pennsylvania redemption, now might be an ideal time. Or perhaps something completely different like Texas or Mississippi.
ReplyDeleteI think you guys should do Georgia, there have been three polls showing Obama in single digits and that the Senate race there could be tied.

ReplyDeleteA helpful suggestio for Tom. When polling NC and any other early voting states, please ensure that you ask the sample whether they have already voted or not. As we near election day, it will be very significant if, for example, 20% of likely voters have already voted.
ReplyDeleteSUSA's poll in NC this week shows that 5% of the sample had voted already and had gone for Obama by more than 2 to 1.
As for subbing out Michigan, that's probably wise given the McCain pull-out but I do think you should stick to bona fides battleground states rather than going for states like GA or SC.
I would say that Indiana and Nevada are two of the most underpolled battleground states and I'd like to see one of them polled.
Kudos again for making your processes so transparent and democratic.

ReplyDeleteI would really like to see a poll out of either Arkansas or West Virginia, because the 2 states are hardly polled.
Now that Obama is up 5-10% nationally, I'd like to see if there's any movement there too.

ReplyDeleteI agree, West Virginia, Indiana, or Nevada are all states that should be considered as subs for Michigan.
ReplyDeletePPP has a proven record of predicting more accurate results in Southern states than the rest of the field, so I think that it would be interesting for you to poll states like SC and GA; considering SUSA's performance there in the primaries, it would be nice for you to confirm or deny their results.

ReplyDeleteI'm tired of hearing WV classified as a deep-red state because it vote for Bush. The fundamentals of that state fit with the Democrats - heck, they even voted for Dukakis in 1988!
Same thing for Arkansas - yeah they are more conservative, but they still have very strong Democratic underpinnings and with a little effort, Obama could play and win in both I think.
