We actually do our polls...

One of the unfortunate things about yesterday's news regarding Research 2000 is that it will have some people wondering if there are even more firms putting out poll numbers without actually conducting polls. Well we do conduct our polls and as a result get a pretty good volume of irate e-mails and phone calls from people telling us to never to call them ever again. Below is a small sampling, although I'm very disappointed I couldn't find the e-mail from the lady in Alaska chiding us because our interviewer didn't sound Alaskan...

I just received one of your calls. It is my policy to respond to lengthy surveys only when reasonable compensation is offered. You don't work for free, neither do I.

  1. Hi! I'm a resident of North Carolina, and I appreciate all polling to follow public opinion. In order to serve the people properly, it is important to check the pulse of the population frequently. Sometimes, a citizen may get a chance to voice their opinions by means of polling. That is a significant and valuable asset in itself. Monetary payment wouldn't be as valuable. And hey, if you don't want to participate...don't answer your phone! People are getting their blood pressure up for little cause. I appreciate all the hard work polling organizations do. Thanks!

  2. To be fair, calling at 8:45 pm on a Sunday night is fairly obnoxious

  3. Hmm. I wouldn't think twice about an 8:45pm phone call, but PPP will never call me because I'm from the quarter of American households that has gone cellphone-only. I'm glad you actually poll, but when will you stop undercounting my demographic?

  4. Most phones are equipped with an adjustable ringer. Obnoxious phone calls that disturb folks during "prime time" can be eliminated by enabling features such as these...and taking responsibility for your own telephone...so you have control over your own calls...and your own life! Thanks.
