PPP has now taken a look at Mel Martinez's approval rating and how some possible opponents might fare against him three months in a row and the trend is pretty clear: he is the most vulnerable Senator in the country in 2010. All three of our surveys have shown his approval below 25%. 5 out of 6 potential candidates we tested against him- Alex Sink, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, and Bob Graham in addition to Boyd and Klein- had a lead, and the sixth, Robert Wexler, was tied.

Obviously a lot could happen between now and 2010 but Martinez's low standing could make him vulnerable to a primary challenge- Republicans won't want to renominate him if he looks like a dead duck in the general election.
