Obama's Decline with Independents

It's been seven weeks now since we put out any poll- national or state level- that showed Barack Obama's approval rating over 50% with independents. Tomorrow's Virginia release on politician approvals in the state finds Obama with just 38% of voters in that group giving him good marks to 52% disapproving.

Here's how Obama fared among independents in our last eight polls, listed in reverse chronological order:

State

Obama’s Numbers with Independents

Virginia

38/52

New Jersey

43/46

Ohio

49/39

North Carolina

49/43

National

46/49

Wisconsin

49/45

Alabama

40/49

West Virginia

33/53

  1. Yeah, I totally believe that President Obama has a nearly equal level of disapproval among Indy's in West Virginia and Virginia.

    That's TOTALLY believable. lol

Probably not, but whatever works for you.

It's disappointing to see how inaccurate your polling has been over the last few months (considering you were only partially off during the general).

You've fallen into Zogby, Rasmussen and ARG territory.

Oh well. You can't always get it right, I guess.

  2. Sounds like you're judging our polls on whether you like the results or not- never a very good way to evaluate pollsters.

I'm not sure how you can state so authoritatively that our polling has become so inaccurate when the only polling in recent months that had an exam date- the Virginia Democratic primary- showed us as the most accurate.

  3. Haha, now I know why "anonymous" remained anonymous. You're obviously an Obama-bot (you seem to hate polling organizations that don't show Obama with 70% approval ratings anymore, which is a shrinking number of polling orgs.)

Would you seriously sacrifice 'attempted accuracy' for mindless polls that reflect what the pollster wants? Sadly, it sounds like that's what you'd prefer.

It's really funny watching you lambs crack up/flip-out over Obama's slipping poll numbers. I suggest you get used to it.

  4. Tom,

Can PPP do a poll of the Charlotte Mayoral race between John Lassiter and Anthony Foxx. Alot of folks have wanted to see who will succeed Mayor McCrory

  5. We certainly will be polling the Charlotte Mayoral race...I don't know when we'll start though...perhaps after filing ends.
