Our new poll suggests that liberal unhappiness with Barack Obama is still largely anecdotal and not very widespread. His approval rating with liberal Democrats is 95%, with only 3% disapproving of him.
On health care 88% of voters in that group say they're with Obama and only 7% are opposed. We simply are not seeing any broad evidence of push back toward him from the left for not advocating for single payer.
There is a little more unrest with him on Afghanistan. 68% of liberal Democrats support his approach there with 22% opposed. Even with those who disagree with him on the issue 81% express approval of his overall job performance so it doesn't seem to be a deal breaker by any means.
Certainly media outlets can go out and find some individuals on the left disenchanted with Obama if they want to push a Democratic disunity narrative but it's hard to make much more than an anecdotal case on that front. For the most part liberal Democrats are pretty content with Obama.
"anecdotal" is not a histrionic measurement when applied upon a sense of the people. Those who have the proficiency and time to respond to this site are not the ones facing foreclosure, no jobs, no hope, rather your respondents are well fed liberals able to speak out from a vista of possibility for the rest of us possibility is dire. As for liberalism, when was the last time these people stood in a protest line to act for change?
ReplyDeleteI am not Liberal nor Conservative. I am an average American. The problem that I have with Obama is that he talks too much. Thats right all talk and little or no leadership or action. If he wants a Public Option or Single Payer for Health Insurance reform then by God man take a stand. Love him or hate him George W. Bush took a stand on issues. Obama could learn alot from that.
ReplyDeleteActually, a recent study done by the Congressional Quarterly shows Obama to have the highest legislative success rate of any president in the history of the U.S. - 96.7%.

Not so coincidentally, NPR also reports that 2009 saw the highest percentage of partisan politics ever.

Which makes Obama's achievements that much more remarkable.

ReplyDeleteYeah it must be tough to get legislation passed when you have a big majority in the house, filibuster proof senate, and your base thinks you're a god incarnate.
Oh and according to NPR, politics has become partisan. Must be hell to get legislation passed when your side's playing ball.
How many President owned the senate and the house? Seems pretty easy to get good numbers when you own all.
ReplyDeleteIf it were not for payoffs and bribes he would not get anything done. And ya know it!
This story shows how biased the media actually is! To call the Americans "Tea baggers" or "Idiots" shows that arogance against the Americans that are suppose to be represented. The Politicians and media do and will lie to sway the people. I don't believe either anymore. To see this article just provides further proof of the unbelievable bias tha the media has. This is a clash of the people and the intellects.
