We're taking suggestions on a bunch of stuff:
-Who should we include as the bonus Republican on our next 2012 Presidential poll
-What other interesting questions should we include on that national poll?
We're tentatively planning to poll Delaware and New Hampshire this coming weekend, including the Republican Senate primaries in those states. What questions beyond the obvious horse race stuff should we ask on those polls?
As always, appreciate all the suggestions.
Any chance you can do Maryland as well to see if Murphy poses any real threat to Ehrlich?

Assuming the candidate were otherwise qualified, would you vote for a GOP candidate in the primary who voted for TARP?
For the 2012 poll, please ask if voters want to keep or abolish the electoral college and elect the President by a national popular vote instead.

ReplyDeleteDo Republicans want a candidate who ran for president in 2008 or someone "new" running for the first time? Would be interesting to see how much of a headstart the Romney/Huckabee crowd has over the rest of the field.

ReplyDeleteTry a well-known non-politician, a Toby Keith type, but more serious. Franklin Graham, the ghost of Charlton Heston, Joe Scarborough, someone like that. Not Glenn Beck.
For the NH poll, ask if the respondents are of Franco-American heritage.
For the DE primary, ask about Cap & Trade.

ReplyDeleteWe're not likely to do more than two states this weekend. A ton of states have primaries, including the GOP Senate one in Wisconsin, but we can't do them all. NH and DE are probably the two that have gotten the most coverage of late and seen the most change in the polls, at least in NH's case.

Run a bunch of libertarian questions in New Hampshire. Full marijuana legalization, gay marriage, gambling, prostitution, secession, etc.

ReplyDeleteWe asked that in August, and 24% said they wanted someone other than our usual 5 running, to 54% who wanted someone else.
Delaware at-large seat GOP primary, please. There hasn't been a non-internal poll released yet for the Urquhart/Rollins race.

Why dont you talk about Republican plans to revive the economy? What is the parties solutions to our crisis. This shouldnt be about candidates, it should be about platform and spare the moderates your "flame" issues! Gingrich, Palin, Pawlenty are loosers. Truly, I see no one who is now a republican presenting any solutions. We have been labeled the Party of No for good reason. There are as many unemployed republicans, republicans loosing our homes, and you want us to continue voting for teabaggers. No one without a solution should be on the ballot.

For questions in Delaware and New Hampshire:
ReplyDeleteI would be curious to see who all of the Republican Primary voters would have voted for a month ago. I say that because in NH, Binnie has supposedly started blitzing heavily even though Ayotte was far ahead, would be interesting to see if he has had any effect.
In Delaware, the same question could apply. Did people just jump on the Christine O'Donnell bandwagon or did they like her all along?
As an alternate question in Delaware, "how does Christine O'Donnell's Tea Party support affect your opinion of her favorable/unfavorable, etc." If that question comes back negatively, then the Tea Party being her main audience could be false. It might just be people who don't like Castle.
It is my understanding, as per Politico's Maggie Haberman, that Rudy Giuliani is planning to run again in 2012.

ReplyDeletePoll Chris Christie for President (he's making the rounds around the country, and going to Iowa soon, plus he's been fairly prominent) or some well known conservative celebrity.
ReplyDeleteAs for Delaware, ask voters if they are voting against O'Donnell, or against Castle. (and vice versa) You should poll gay marriage there too.
