you have to poll marriage equality and Terry Branstad's approval ratings
Branstad-Culver rematch; approval ratings of statewide officials; generic ballot; Presidential ballot (and add Trump to the mix), and of course, the Iowa caucuses.
Christie Vilsack's favorability numbers would be interesting.
Trump said recently he'd be open to the idea of a 3rd party run if he didn't win the GOP nomination. Why not poll Trump in both IA+NC as a 3rd party candidate with Romney, Huck, and Palin on top of the GOP ticket?
Definitely ask about gay marriage and possibly whether they have any buyers remorse with Branstad
Can we kick out Sarah Palin out of the line up? It's looking increasingly likely that she is not going to run.
She could be replaced by Trump, Gary Johnson, Bachmann or Christie.
Throw a curve ball. Something like:
Which of the following candidates has the best chance of beating Obama?
This would show if there is any difference between vote who they like or who they think would beat Obama.
They may not be the same.

Ask them if they would use the word "sincere" to describe Donald Trump. Much of the criticism of Trump so far is based on the assumption that his toying with a Presidential run is just a publicity stunt.

It would be interesting to do another "birther" poll--but one worded more like this:
"Do you believe that Obama's refusal to release his original birth certificate proves that he has something to hide?"
This would distinguish hardcore birthers from anyone with more generic suspicions (for example Jack Cashill's theory that Obama is trying to hide some sordid family drama that would ruin his chances at reelection).

The problem with asking
"Do you believe that Obama's refusal to release his original birth certificate proves that he has something to hide?"
is that there is no refusal...it's been released. So the premise is false.
I'd love to see how Rick Santorum would so in a socially conservative Iowa caucus.
Please poll the religious right-friendly candidates - Bachmann, Cain and Santorum - in the GOP primary. Also, Pawlenty would be fitting.

Actually, Obama's original birth certificate hasn't been released. The issue depends on the nuances of Hawaii's birth certification practices. You can see the well-known article on Fact Check for the details.
Basically, the certificate released by the Obama campaign was a modern copy, printed from a database, dating from after Hawaii computerized its birth record system.
There is another, original birth certificate that dates all the way back to 1961, includes more information (newborn statistics, etc.), and is presumably archived somewhere in Honolulu.
The former is supposed to be acceptable legal proof of birth in the jurisdiction in question, but the "birthers" and others have been demanding to see the latter as well. That one has never been released.
A two-part gay marriage question would be very interesting. First the normal marriage question, and then a question about whether they would support removing from office judges who voted to allow gay marriage. It would be interesting to see if there are some people who oppose same-sex marriage but also wouldn't remove an incumbent judge from office over that issue alone.

I wonder, too, will Independents choose to participate in Republican caucuses b/c it's a contested race, and if so, how will that affect the outcome there?
And I wonder a little how much Wisconsin's Walker has creeped into the news there, and what they think of him, of his union-busting law, his refusal of high-speed rail, any of it. I guess I wonder about the general mood and trend of the upper mid-west.
Obviously, please poll Bachmann and Trump. I'd also poll Mitch Daniels, perhaps at the expense of Ron Paul. The former is 3rd on Intrade prediction markets with 8.8%, while Paul is at 2.2%.
I expect that this comment comes too late, but please poll the budget that the House approved the other day! The Ryan budget still hasn't been tested anywhere!
