Ohio President

Barack Obama 48
John McCain 40

For the second month in a row Barack Obama has a solid lead in PPP's Ohio tracking poll.

His 91-6 lead among black voters in the state is not a big surprise, but he is also keeping it surprisingly competitive among white voters with whom he trails John McCain only 46-42. Whether he is able to keep the white vote this close will determine if he pulls off the victory in Ohio this fall or not.

Also of note is that despite losing the Ohio primary by a good margin, Obama is doing a pretty good job of keeping Democratic voters in the fold. He has a 77-11 lead with them, almost as good as the 83-12 edge McCain is showing with Republicans. Obama has a slight 42-37 advantage with independents.

Your party breakdown is whack.

Plus, polling over the weekend seems to always give strange results and usually gives the advantage to the Dem's.

But then again, those are the results you are looking for, so thats what you are going to get.

Tom, your polls make no sense. One month ago you claimed 55% of registered voters in Ohio were Democrats. This month, you claim only 46% of registered voters are Democrats.

Are you seriously trying to claim that in one month, Democrats lost 9% of the share of voters in the state?

Rasmussen out with a poll for Ohio showing McCain ahead 52%-42%. Are you two pollsters even polling the same state? How can Obama be ahead by 8% and McCain ahead by 10% at the same time?

Rasmussen poll internals have mccain up double digits amongst voters uner 35. Smells like an outlier to me.
