Half of the Carolinas disapprove of Bush on Iraq

According to the Charlotte Observer/WCNC Carolinas Poll, 49.5% of residents of the Carolinas disapprove of how President Bush has handled the situation in Iraq. Only 27.5% percent approve. According to a CBS News poll cited in the article, 69% nationwide disapprove of the President on Iraq.

Is 49.5% enough to make it an issue in upcoming Senate and Congressional races?

Is 49.5% enough? I doubt it. I don't know so much about NC politics, but in SC, it doesn't matter who you are as long as you have that "R" after your name. You should see some of the letters to the editor that make it into the main newspaper here.

NC might not switch its congressmen or senators, but I do believe the presidential race could actually be competitive especially if Gov. Easley is tapped to be the VP or if the nominee is someone other than Hillary Clinton.
