From the Palin Mailbag

So yesterday I wrote a post about how the preferred 2012 Presidential candidate of the birthers was Sarah Palin. In no way did I suggest or do I suggest that Palin herself is a birther but this got her supporters all riled up and they've been sending lots of e-mails the last 24 hours.

Here's a sampling:

why is it so hard for Obambam to come forward with his offical (the one under lock & key) BC and what about the rest of his transcripts, etc from his "college" daze? why keep something secret unless you have something to hide?

Mr. Jansen,

I am appalled at your recent article trying to smear Gov. Palin by
associating her with the birthers. Articles like this are the main reason
we have so much hate in this country. You have a position that could be
helping America and instead you are hurting America and Americans by trying
to rile up hatred.

I read your comments attempting to smear Sarah Palin by somehow
connecting her to the birthers movement. How unprofessional, how
disgusting and dismaying. You know there is no connection here and yet
you publish it as if it were gospel fact. No wonder journalism and now
even polling I see is held in such low repute among the average person
in this nation today. How sad for your profession. How sad for civility
and honest discussion and debate today. As Scrooge once remarked, "I'll
retire to Bedlam!".

I read your recent poll where you tried to link Gov Palin with so called"
birthers". Interesting result...I did a similar poll...100% of all black
supremacists supported Obama over McCain....so what did that tell you?
about the same as your Palin poll... Palin isn't a birther( although how
hard is it really to publish the certificate and end that group once and for
all- Obama I think is playing them) and Obama isnt a black racist
although that group supported him overwhelmingly

I am writing in response to your disgusting smear campaign against former Governor Sarah Palin. Your attempt to associate the Governor with a discredited conspiracy is pathetic and beneath the dignity of your firm. Are you aware of the polls that show 35% of democrats believe Bush was responsible the 9/11 attacks (http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2009/08/03/each_party_has_its_fanatics_97748.html). Why dont you write about the leftist fringe conspiracy theorists that make up the core of Obama's base? You sir may think of yourself as a blogger or an author but in truth you are nothing more than a professional liar and an unfortunate waste of skin.

Funny stuff, these comments. Flat-earth birthers sure can get all scrambly uppity when exposed to sunlight.

Tom,

Are you forgetting that you wrote the following?

"Remember when W. said 'some people call you the elites, I call you my base?' Swap out birthers for elites and you've got the makings of a great Palin speech."

A reasonable interpretation of your comment is that you are suggesting Palin holds the view that Obama's long-form birth certificate will show he was not born in the United States.

Wow... did it get this nasty during the election?

Those were great! Thanks for posting. I really needed a good laugh today. If it weren't for the birthers or those that buy into the whole death panel idiocy, there would no levity in politics at all.

...Some people really do believe that she has some kind of future. The nature of the comments amuses me, with the exception of the second one, which is at least thought-out to some degree.
IE, "One facebook post, and Barry and Rahm drop the death panels. Had to hurt". I'm pretty sure it had more to do with Chuck Grassley (who is actually doing something), than an unpopular ex-governor's adventures with social media. Listen, these are just numbers, don't blame the messengers.
