Michigan was the winner of our vote on where to poll next week, so that's where we'll go along with North Carolina. 2 things:
-Who would you like to see us test against Debbie Stabenow?
-What other questions should we ask?
Obviously we'll do the standard Presidential stuff we do in every state, and we'll include Scott Walker just to see how he does. Thanks as always for the suggestions.

See Rick Snyder's approval rating, and whether his EFM proposal is popular or not, and whether they'd support a recall (which I doubt, but we'll see).
See if Bernero would win a rematch with Snyder. I doubt this, since Snyder was a better candidate than Walker or Kasich, and Barrett and Strickland were better than Bernero, but it's still worth polling.
1) "As you may know, Michigan law allows voters to recall most elected officials after they have served in office for six months. Would you sign a petition to recall Governor Rick Snyder when he becomes eligible for a recall on July 1?"
2) If an recall election were called, voters would be asked whether to allow Gov. Snyder to continue his term in office or to recall him and replace him with someone else. Would you support 1) recalling Gov. Snyder or 2) replacing him with someone else?"
For Stabenow challengers Saul Anuzis, Pete Hoekstra, and Terri Lynn Land should be interesting. Another question might be asking the public perception of the Koch brothers- it's worth seeing if the Democrats' attempts to vilify them are having any effect or not.

Chad Dewey & Randy Hekman have already confirmed their candidacies so poll them against Stabenow.
In addition, Anuzis, Hoekstra, Terry Lynn Land, & Leuliette are likely Republican challengers so include them.

I re-match for Snyder would sure be interesting, given his great big margin of victory in November.
I think that another interesting question to ask would be whether voters would support a constitutional amendment in Michigan guaranteeing the right to collective bargaining. The Dems there want the R's in the leg. to have to vote up or down, plus there's early talk of an intitiative.
You folks could ask about the "financial manger" bill, although I understand R's have precluded a referendum by adding a $100 appropriation.

I'm from Michigan. Ask "do you approve of the Gov taking over cities and school districts in a fiscal emergency?
(1) Ask about Snyder's plan to tax retirement income.
(2) Ask about the recent law allowing governor to revoke local control for cities and school districts.

For Michigan:
- I would say poll Virg vs. Snder redux, but I don't think Bernero was that popular. Maybe Dillon vs Snyder instead.
- Ask how much they've heard about Snyder's budget plan,favs/unfavs.
- Do you believe Governor Snyder is governing in the way he promised during his campaign? (Snyder presented himself as uber-moderate pragmatic, and only got through the Repub primary with ~35% of the vote)
- Poll support for *recalling* Snyder (Michigan allows recalls after 6 months - so in July.)
- Poll support for a constitutional amendment permanently preserving collective bargaining - This can be done by petition and referendum with ~300,000 signatures and is being pushed by the Dem legislature minority leaders.
- Poll support/opposition towards letting Snyder speak at the University of Michigan commencement (would be nice if you could break this down by phone code, so we could have a small subsample of Ann Arborites.) Would like to know if those who voted for Romney in the 2008 primaries did so partly due to name recognition of George Romney? Or partly due to George Romney having been a governor there?

I have a question about your poll for Kos. Do you do something different for them than you do for your own national poll? This is the second time you've had quite different numbers even though the field dates were the same.

A follow up question after asking about who they support for the GOP primary:
"Would you vote for a candidate that passed legislation that mandates people to buy health insurance at the state level?"
I just want to see how many Romney supporters say no. It would be an interesting way to see how big of a problem this could be for him...especially in a state like Michigan where is likely in the lead at this early stage.

Poll U.S. Rep. Justin Amash (R-Kentwood) for U.S. Senate. He's telling people he's looking at it.
General approval rating for Republicans and Democrats in the state.
Right to Work. Republicans will push for this if Dems pursue a constitutional amendment on collective bargaining.
Benefits for live-in same-sex partners. The state Civil Service Commission approved them for state employees, but Republicans in the Legislature are looking for ways to overturn them.
Would Michigan voters support federal tax reform that:
* Enables workers to keep their entire paychecks
* Enables retirees to keep their entire pensions
* Refunds in advance the tax on purchases of basic necessities
* Allows American products to compete fairly
* Brings transparency and accountability to tax policy
* Ensures Social Security and Medicare funding
* Closes all loopholes and brings fairness to taxation
* Abolishes the IRS
Ask if they want Snyder recalled.
Against Stabenow: the usual suspects, Anuzis, Hoekstra, and Land. I don't think Stabenow has announced her plans, but it might be interesting to test another Dem, like Rep. Gary Peters.
Please continue with your state-by-state polling of same-sex marriage.
It's all about the collective bargaining, the tax cuts and the Emergency manager legislation (oh and recalling the governor). I think it will shed some light on what's really happening in Michigan. Poll the popularity of the proposals and the awareness.

Michael Moore favorables.
Gay marriage.
If you're asking questions other than head-to-head matchups and approval ratings (and you may not be) it would be interesting to know how the rest of the state feels about Detroit; how Arab-Americans feel about their state, and how the other demographics in the state feel about Arab-Americans (might be too inflammatory to investigate, but might be reassuring); and whether Michiganders are more likely or less likely than other Americans, or other Big Ten folks, to say that they want to move to another state. (I don't live in MI. I have relatives who do.)
If you're going to do the same thing you did in Ohio with a Drew Carey figure, how about Stabenow v. Kid Rock.
yes I would sign a petition to recall him. I would volunteer my time to stand outside of a supermarket and have as many people sign it, and I am crippled. I would stand on my crippled leg for as many days as I could. I knew he was full of shit when he ran his false campaign lies about the city of Lansings unemployment numbers. I can't understand how these so called "educated" people who voted for him could not see this. His math numbers were either "over inflated" or "lies". He doesn't care about the citizens of Michigan, he says "reinvent Michigan" but Michigan is doing the same thing, cutting education and continuing to spend more of the general fund on corrections, when are these dummies in our political system ever going to learn. He says to invest in the future, well invest in the future by giving our leaders of tomorrow a good education, ok so we might have to let someone who stole something from the store out of jail early. That is the price that should be paid, i'd rather take some time to watch my neighborhood then pay out of my pocket to continue to pay for prisoners and not educated the kids so we can pay for more corrections tomorrow, cause they never learned. Lets get with it people. It's very simple, and would solve a whole bunch of problems of tomorrow and lets really "reinvent" Michigan and it's future.
